Intro to Note Values
NOTE VALUE = the relative duration of a note.
A rest indicates a silence of the same duration.
Knowing the length of a note is a half the battle! It is also one of the defining factors that makes reading sheet music the most advanced and accurate way to learn or record music on paper. With tablature, the timing is ambiguous and this isn’t good because timing is the difference between a great lick/riff/melody and a bad one.
