Finding Notes on the Fretboard –> Learning Your Octaves –> Pentatonic Scales
Pentatonic Scales –>
Diatonic Scales –> Guitar Modes

In my opinion, the Pentatonic Scales are the MOST important thing a beginner guitar player can learn (after open chords). These are the legos of music!

Here is a long list of the reasons you should learn.

Here is a FREE PDF Booklet of this lesson, in case you want to print it out for yourself or students:

The Pentatonic Scale is a treasure trove. Within it, you can find every major chord and every minor chord.

…………………………….

Reasons why you should stop everything and focus on memorizing the Pentatonic Scale:

– Because every great guitar player in history has used variations of this scale, whether they knew it or not

– Add one note to the Pentatonic Scale and you have the standard Blues scale

– Add two notes to the Pentatonic Scale and you the Diatonic Scale and ALL modes

– As the videos show above: all major and minor chords can be found within it

– Picking out the major and minor chords within the scale, you can create countless arpeggios

– Once you have the shapes memorized in the “standard way” shown above, you can delve into the world of scale paths. Because there are tons of ways to play the same scales.

– The Pentatonic Scale gives you the building blocks of music. Most of the melodies you have heard in your life are based on it

– Practicing the scale shapes will make you a faster guitarist

Now get to it!!!
